Services at the Clinic:
- Hearing Protection: Sound levels above 85 dB dB have a potential to wreck one's hearing. Loud sounds of 100 dB or more even for 15 minutes can cause some level of permanent damage to one’s hearing . For information about Noise induced deafness and Hearing Protection, please click here.
- Hearing Aids: Hearing loss can be of a recoverable or a permanent nature. Conductive deafness may be treated by medication or surgery. Hearing aids are required for hearing loss because of inner ear pathology (sensorineural). For information on Digital hearing aids, please click here. - Cochlear Implants: These are surgically implanted electronic devices that provide a sense of hearing to those who are profoundly hearing impaired. If someone is receiving little or no benefit out of their hearing aids, an evaluation for a cochlear implant is undertaken. For more information regarding cochlear implants, please click here.
- Tinnitus Clinic: Tinnitus is the buzzing sound in the ear(s) in the absence of an external stimulus. It is more commonly experienced than usually thought. - Speech Therapy: POH has a dedicated team of Audiologists and Speech Therapists who address all major and minor speech related concerns. Speech Therapy focuses on receptive and expressive language, the ability to understand and use words. There may be several speech and language disorders which may warrant speech therapy.
